Volodin congratulated Putin on his “convincing victory” in the elections – Kommersant

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that the result of the presidential elections exceeded expectations. He congratulated Vladimir Putin on his “convincing victory” and noted that the elections demonstrated the consolidation of Russian society. Based on the results of processing 60.01% of the protocols, Mr. Putin (self-nominated) gains 87.26% of the votes.

“This is a response to those who did everything to prevent our country from becoming strong and sought to destroy it. Our opponents understand: Putin is Russia’s advantage. Therefore, the main attacks and blows were aimed at him. Only independent states have a future. Russia with President Putin will become even stronger,” Mr. Volodin wrote in Telegram channel.

According to the Central Election Commission, based on the results of processing 60.01% of the protocols, Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) scored 4.18%, Vladislav Davankov (New People) – 3.99%, Leonid Slutsky (LDPR) – 3.12%. The overall turnout was 74.22% (as of 18:00 Moscow time). Election candidates recognized victory of Vladimir Putin.
