Tina O’Brien ‘beefing up security’ to protect kids from revenge attacks’ after ‘splitting up schoolgirl fight over boys’

TINA O’Brien is beefing up security to protect her kids from revenge attacks after she was caught up in a brawl, says pal.

The Corrie star, 40, was involved in the scrap outside her £1million Cheshire pad when two schoolgirls began fighting over a boy.

We revealed this week, how the 5ft 1in star — Sarah Barlow in the ITV soap — raced out as violence flared on her cul-de-sac.

Shocking footage then showed her trading blows and putting a girl in a headlock — as the actress was also hit and had her hair pulled.

A pal of Tina’s said she is now looking at improving security at her property, which she shares with hubby Adam Crofts and her two kids, over backlash fears.

They went on: “Naturally, her number one priority is making sure they are safe and, crucially, that they feel safe.”

The actress was in crisis talks with soap bosses on Thursday.

Tina was given a week off work after she the incident left her “traumatised”.

The married mum-of-two told them she was defending her home from teenage girls “spoiling for a fight”.

Last night, a source said: “Tina went straight to meet her Corrie bosses this morning. She told them she was the victim here, and they have accepted that.

“They also think the incident has traumatised her so have been very sympathetic. Tina has been left really shaken and they told her to take a week off.”

Tina — who joined the soap aged 16 in 1999 — is said to fear “reprisal attacks” following Friday night’s brawl in Bramhall, Stockport.

And she was praised by the mum of a youngster, 15, who she rushed to protect.

The mum said the group had been looking for trouble after a fall-out over a boy.

She said: “Tina has been pretty brave in stepping in. Tina is only little herself and she was defending my daughter, so I am extremely grateful to her.

“You can hear in her voice on the video that she is frightened.

“This is also not like her, and she is a really good person.

“I have thanked her and would have done the same if it was my house.”

A spokeswoman for Tina declined to comment.

CRACKDOWN

The violence erupted last Friday night around 10ft from her driveway, while a second brawl took place 20ft away.

A source close to the actress said she had been left “deeply disturbed” by the incident — and had reported it to police herself.

A relative of one of the girls also reported it to cops.

The source went on: “Tina has been plagued by problems near her house and, on this occasion, came out to try to deal with it.

“Some girls travelled to her road and were close to her house so she felt she was defending herself and her home.”

Tina, who has twice been crowned Best Actress at the Inside Soap Awards, has shared pictures online of her luxury home and sprawling garden.

The star wed personal trainer Adam at Manchester’s luxurious King Street Townhouse on New Year’s Eve 2018 and the couple have a son, Beau.

Tina also has a 15-year-old daughter — Scarlett — with former Corrie star Ryan Thomas, with whom she was in a relationship from 2003 to 2009.

Scarlett stars as Izzy Charles in BBC drama Waterloo Road. Tina featured in Corrie from 1999 to 2008 then took a break, during which she starred on Waterloo Road.

She has also appeared on Strictly, coming fourth with American dance partner Jared Murillo in 2010.

Tina returned to Corrie in 2015. She has previously hailed Adam — who she started dating in 2014 — as “my everything”.

She wrote in 2022: “You’re amazing and you inspire me to be better, bolder and braver. Thank you for being my mentor without even knowing you are.”

She has also posted pictures of herself with Scarlett, calling her “my absolute bestie”.

Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers are investigating reports of an assault in Stockport between 8pm and 9pm on 15 March.”
