Ryan Reynolds reveals the one thing he does with every single Wrexham transfer target

Ryan Reynolds has revealed the one thing he does before signing any Wrexham transfer target.

The Hollywood star has co-owned Wrexham alongside Rob McElhenney since 2021, taking them from the National League to League One.

The Red Dragons have earned consecutive promotions over the past two seasons under the management of Phil Parkinson, and have brought in a number of high-profile players.

James McClean, George Evans, Steven Fletcher and Paul Mullin are among those currently contracted to the club, while Wrexham have already signed former Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and ex-Charlton midfielder George Dobson this summer.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand in the latest ‘Vibe with FIVE’ podcast, Reynolds revealed that he has one strict rule in place when assessing every transfer target.

He explained: “I know it sounds super ridiculous, but it’s just about leading with honesty.

“I talk to every single potential signing that we have. Just today, I talked to a new signing, George Dobson, who just signed.

“You just want them to feel like you have their back, and that you are setting them up to win.”

The opportunity to sign Dobson, who has spent much of his professional career in League One, came out of left-field earlier this month.

The 26-year-old had in fact agreed a pre-contract deal to join Hungarian side Fehervar from July 1, but the deal was cancelled due to reported personal circumstances.

Following his arrival at the Racecourse Ground, Dobson – who played under Wrexham boss Parkinson at Sunderland – summed up exactly the message Reynolds tries to get across to his key targets when speaking to the club’s official website.

He said: “It’s the club in the EFL that everyone wants to come, and when I got the opportunity to join it was exciting.

“When I spoke to the gaffer and he showed his interest, it felt like an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
