Joshua Kimmich ‘brings in agent’ amid Premier League transfer links with clear frontrunner to sign him

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is reportedly in talks with an agent amid transfer rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old signed for Bayern from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2015, and has developed into one of the most consistent players in world football.

A defensive midfielder who is also a natural at right-back, Kimmich’s versatility has been one of his strongest assets at Bayern.

He has provided 10 assists or more in four of his last six full seasons for the German giants, and was a key part of the side that won the 2020 Champions League final under Hansi Flick.

But Kimmich has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena, with Sport1 claiming that he is not set to sign a new contract with the club in the near future. One natural destination for him is the Premier League.

And according to BILD football journalist Christian Falk, Kimmich is said to be enquiring about hiring an agent ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Falk wrote (via iMiaSanMia): “Joshua Kimmich has asked around for an agent.

“Kimmich is currently the only Bayern player not represented by an agent. The midfielder’s current contract runs until 2025 and he’s one of the top earners.

“Now they [Bayern and Kimmich] have to talk about a new contract, and the club is saying he can’t get more with his current performances.

“Hiring an agent would be an indication that the player is considering a move abroad.”

One club who could sign him is Manchester City, with Kimmich having initially been converted into a defensive midfielder during Pep Guardiola’s spell in charge of Bayern.

And according to Football Transfers, City are keen on bringing the 28-year-old to England, having been interested in signing him before the Declan Rice transfer saga that eventually saw the England international join Arsenal.

It is claimed that his future under Thomas Tuchel at Bayern is now looking ‘more uncertain’ – which could pave the way for a move to Manchester in January.
