‘It’s nutty to hear’ says Danny Dyer as he claims rude West Ham chant about Jarrod Bowen and daughter Dani is ‘romantic’

DANNY Dyer has called a rude chant about his daughter and footballer fiancé Jarrod Bowen “romantic”.

The former EastEnders star admitted he was shocked when he first got wind of the popular but crude song that was thought up by West Ham fans.

But now he’s quite fond of it and is proud to have England striker Jarrod in the family.

Speaking at a recording of Fantasy Football League last night, Danny said: “Jarrod Bowen is the father of my grand kids, I can’t tell you how that makes me feel, it’s such a beautiful thing. Look, ultimately I want someone who’s going to worship the ground my daughter walks on, that’s the key, he loves her to pieces.

“He looks after her and it’s a real love story. But he f***ing plays for West Ham as well, not only that, he’s brilliant. He’s our best player. It’s very emotional watching West Ham, I love West Ham more than my kids, and to watch them now with that added thing is very emotional.

“It’s a nutty little tune. It’s mental blokes clapping about my daughter getting sh***ed. There is some romance in it, I feel. It was mad when I first heard it though, I did think f**king hell.”

The tongue in cheek song is a play on club classic Freed From Desire with the lyrics “Bowen’s on fire and he’s sh**ing Dani Dyer.”

West Ham fan Danny also thinks Jarrod deserves a place in England’s starting XI for upcoming games against Brazil and Belgium.

He said: “I’m delighted he’s been called up for the England squad and he deserves a shot, he plays in Saka’s position. I might be biased but I think he’s as good as Saka, he’s scored more goals than Saka, he’s stronger, you can put Jarrod up front, you can’t really do that with Saka.

“I’d like to think he gets a shot, give him some minutes on the pitch and see what he does Gareth. It’s two games, Brazil and Belgium, hopefully he gets a run out.”

The Dani and Jarrod chant was even sung by the striker‘s teammates after their historic Europa Conference final win against Fiorentina.

Striker Michail Antonio shared clips of the party onto his Instagram, which were filmed by a beer-supping Declan Rice.

The Hammers squad danced up and down as they belted out: “Bowen’s on fire and he’s sh**ing Dani Dyer.”

Rice later revealed on BT Sport what the scenes were like inside the dressing-room, and he insisted that his team-mate was “loving it”.

He said while breaking out into laughter: “We were actually singing Bowen’s on fire in there.

“Jarrod was loving it!”

“We were singing West Ham Are Massive… we’re just enjoying the moment.”

Dad Danny has even been known to sing along with it.

He previously said: “I’ve been over there when they’re singing it, jumping around. Is that wrong?”

He also admitted to being thrilled when the former Love Island star told him she was dating goal ace Jarrod, both 27.

He said: “All of a sudden she’s brought home a West Ham player. I couldn’t have hand-picked a better human being, he’s beautiful.

“He comes round and I get all starstruck.”
