Looking back at her time on the show, Claire told her followers this week: “Loving this series of Big Brother!!!!!

“Cant believe it was 2001 when we did the first celebrity big brother. The days before reality TV existed. It was for comic Relief and nobody got paid. We were in the house for a week, and I loved it!”

Alongside a picture with her co-stars, she added:  “23 years ago it was broadcast across BBC One and Channel 4, and the launch was watched by 4.58m people.

“Lasting 8 days, 6 celebrities (Chris Eubank, Vanessa Feltz, Keith Duffy, Jack Dee, and Anthea Turner.”

Her fans rushed to comment on the memory and reminisce about the famous series.

One person said:  “This was the absolute best one so funny.”

While a second said: “Omg this was an epic series of Big Brother. Vanessa and table writing, her sister flashing the V’s when she was evicted, Jack trying to escape all the time. Amazing!!”

And a third added: “Omg I completely forgot you were in Big Brother!!”

Claire recently told how, at the time, the stars were “protected” in the edit.

The star, who now star is Coronation Street,  said: “It was fabulous for me.

“It was over 15 years of hard work for overnight success.”

She added: “[It] just really propelled me and gave me all my dream jobs.”

Before the current series, Claire accidentally let slip that her co-star Colson Smith was taking part.

Speaking on GMB about the line-up, Claire replied: “Colson is one of the nicest individuals on the planet.

“They know they are on telly, they know how it works.”

Following her stint on the show Claire really did become even more of a household name –  appearing on the panel of Loose Women and fronting 60 Minute Makeover.
