His co-star Si King announced the tragic news in a statement, prompting a flurry of emotional tributes from celebrity friends and fans alike.

And now Dave‘s final TV scenes have aired as the duo visited Dorset for their Go West series on BBC Two.

It saw them take a trip to a watercress farm and meet a blacksmith as he creates a chef’s knife.

Towards the end of the episode Si and Dave learned all about the fermentation and distilling of white rum.

During the show Dave had said: “You know, there’s memories here, a lot of memories for both of us. But what’s lovely is the optimism of looking forward, and certainly on the food front.

“It’s very, very exciting and very optimistic. We’ve got the best of the past and the best of the future.’”

However, viewers at home were reduced to tears as a montage of their trip was aired, following by a poignant closing scene.

“It’s been amazing,” Dave could be heard saying as he sat on a bench with Si before the two men hugged and the late star told his best pal “I love you”.

After the credits rolled a tribute in honour of Dave aired, which read: “In loving memory of our friend, Dave Myers, 1957 – 2024.”

Taking to social media, one heartbroken fan said: “The @HairyBikers Go West, bittersweet moment watching the final episode on @BBCiPlayer.”

A second wrote: “Just watched the final episode of the @HairyBikers Go West series… so glad that they had that time together and that Dave got to do some of those things he dreamt of doing (steam train driving for one). Got something in my eye and an appreciation for the little things in life.”

“Watched the final episode of The Hairy Bikers Go West, last night. The end was very emotional for Si, even though he had no knowledge of what was around the corner. Dave, we thank you for your knowledge and great cooking. RIP,” said a third.
