Ed, 57, took to Instagram to announce the news and revealed money saving expert Martin Lewis will be back on the show.

He wrote: “Had a great time today with @susannareid100 – it’s @martinlewismse tomorrow and I’m back with @kategarraway on Thursday – see you soon.”

It comes after Martin, 51, landed a huge job on This Morning last month.

He has been providing financial advice on the show for more than two decades but he was bumped up to host the main programme alongside Josie Gibson.

However Martin later revealed it was a one off after he asked bosses to give him a a go for his “bucket list”.

During his stint hosting the show, he told viewers: “Thank you very much for having me on the show today.

“This isn’t an audition, I’ve got a day job. To the producers – thanks for having me.

“And to anybody watching I hope you enjoy today and if you don’t, don’t worry because it’s a one off. So you don’t need to tell me on social media if you didn’t enjoy it, I don’t need to know.”

Following Martin’s one-off appearance as main host Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd were announced as permanent replacements for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Confirming the news on social media, former GMB host Ben, 49, told fans: “This really feels like a very special moment for Cat and I to be part of the next chapter of This Morning.

“It’s an honour to be trusted with the reigns, join Alison and Dermot and all the team that work on and off screen and do such a great job.”
