Cheating husband exposed after his death with ‘very funny’ memorial plaque on bench

A CHEATING husband has been exposed after his death — with a memorial plaque on a bench.

The inscription pays tribute to a “Husband, Father, Adulterer” and adds: “Yes, Roger, I knew”.

It was spotted by passers-by in Clifton, Bristol, yesterday morning.

One 63-year-old woman who saw the plaque said: “I have to say I found it very funny when I saw it. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

The tribute — which is in good condition — indicates that Roger, who is described as “my love”, died on Christmas Day last year aged 54.

The identity of Roger, or who commissioned the plaque, was not known

The sign is the second one fixed to the same street bench. Commemorative panels are regularly added to benches and trees in memory of lost loved ones, costing around £30 each.

Most must be approved by councils and can be engraved with messages of a relative’s choosing — including insults.

But in 2022 a memorial bench plaque dedicated to Welshman Huw Davies was removed by Aberystwyth Council killjoys after it joked he “used to sit here and shout ‘f*** off’ at the seagulls’’.
