Bus crashes into block of flats in Paisley leaving it wedged into wall as five are rushed to hospital with injuries

A BUS has crashed into a block of flats in Paisley leaving it wedged into a wall as five people have been rushed to hospital with injuries.

The incident took place in Calside, Scotland, this early afternoon with police, paramedics and firefighters rushing to the scene.

Emergency crews are currently on the scene dealing with the aftermath of the McGills bus crash into the high-rise flats.

Details about the cause of the crash are still unclear.

But shocking images from the scene show a bus wedged against the wall at the foot of the block of flats.

Hamilton Court has now been cordoned off, with several roads closed for safety – including Calside Avenue, Polsons Crescent, Craw Road and Alexandra Gate.

Motorists have been advised to stay away from the affected area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Five people have been taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.

“A number of road closures are in place including Calside Avenue, Polsons Crescent, Craw Road and Alexandra Gate. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.’

A spokesperson for McGill’s Buses said: “This is a live incident and McGill’s personnel are in attendance to establish the detail of the crash. We cannot comment further at this stage.”
