The 56-year-old was pulled off air alongside four other anchors following the merging of both BBC News channels.

However, following reports all broadcasters would be reinstated amid legal fears, Greeta returned to work.

Marking her first day back, Greeta shared snaps from the studio and told fans her Beeb colleagues welcomed her with open arms.

She wrote on social media: “Great to back despite jumping on air early to break a story ..but that’s why we are here!

“Thanks to my wonderful @BBCNews⁩ colleagues for the warmest welcome.”
