Arsenal receive £76m cash injection ahead of January transfer window amid Kylian Mbappe transfer rumours

Arsenal have received a £76million cash injection ahead of the January transfer window.

On Wednesday the Gunners cruised through to the Champions League last-16 as group winners courtesy of a breathtaking first half which helped them to a 6-0 home win over Lens.

PSV’s late comeback victory over Sevilla meant Arsenal needed a point to qualify for the knockout stages. However, Mikel Arteta’s side emphatically staked their claim on the tournament’s round of 16, scoring five goals in the first half alone.

And according to Łukasz Bączek, who Sportico ranked among the top 50 Sport Business accounts on X, Arsenal have so far earned €76 million (£65million) in bonuses for playing in the Champions League.

That number has been broken down to €15.64million (£13.5million) in ‘starting fees’, €25.01million (£21.5million) because of their ‘UEFA Coefficient 10-year Ranking’, €10.6million (£9.15million) from ‘Market pool 1’, €4.23million (£3.65million from ‘Market pool 2’, €9.6million (£8.28million) for qualifying for the Round of 16 and an €11.2million (£9.66million) bonus for their four wins.

The financial boost of Champions League football seems to have provided Arsenal with a cash injection ahead of the January transfer window.

And it also comes amid Record (via Football365) claiming Arsenal and Premier League rivals Liverpool have both begun exploring the financial and sporting parameters involved in persuading Kylian Mbappe to move to the Premier League.

The Paris Saint-Germain marksman is out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to depart on a free transfer.

The Frenchman had the option to extend his deal until 2025 last summer, but opted not to do so, informing the Ligue 1 club of his decision in a letter.

While it is widely expected that Mbappe will join Real Madrid at the end of his contract, Arsenal and Liverpool have allegedly entered the fray.

But according to the Record report, Mbappe has admired Liverpool from afar and is more likely to sign for the Anfield club than Arsenal.
